Graphco was formed in 1976 through the purchase of the Graphics Service Operation, a venture division of AM International. Initially the company was in the printing business offering reprographic services (blueprinting, precision camera work, offset printing, microfilm) to the architectural and engineering enviroments. This endeavor was very successful and named to the INC. Magazine 500 in 1984.

In the early eighties, it became apparent that the technical service response from the large manufacturers was on the decline and there was a need for local well-trained, professional service support for offset equipment. Graphco began to change its focus and formed the TechService Group. This activity grew rapidly and offices were established in Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati. In a few short years, Graphco became the major independent supplier of technical service in the Midwest.

Graphco became a Hamada dealer in 1984. This added the replacement and upgrade equipment necessary to further penetrate the offset printing equipment market. After several years of enhancing Hamada's reputation and product performance, Graphco became one of the leading equipment dealers in the United States. For the past five years, Graphco has been among the top five Hamada dealers. This led to the expansion into Pittsburgh and West Virginia markets.

The early nineties ushered in the digital revolution. Graphco expanded its focus to include this important development by adding imagesetters to the product line. The PrePRESS Panther became the initial high performance capstan unit. This area has been expanded to include the Presstek (Sakurai Platemaster) and Printware (CTP) Computer-to-Plate technology. By adding this capability, Graphco is one of the few companies to offer the entire system...from disk to dot.

In order to complete the printing cycle, Graphco has acquired the dealership for Standard/Horizon products. This allows us to offer complete bindery and finishing systems.

In 1996, Graphco took a giant leap forward by becoming a dealer for Sakurai USA. This product line has transformed the company to a supplier to the large printer. Sakurai offers two, four, five, and six color presses in sizes of 17 1/2" x 22" to 28" x 40".

The future looks very bright for Graphco. We are presently exploring new technologies such as "Waterless" printing, refinements in the CTP technology, and fully automated collating and perfect binding systems. With a solid foundation of technical service and customer base, Graphco will evolve into one of the premier companies in the Midwest.
